8 Tips for Using Color to Communicate an Event's Message
Colors have the power to spread the feel
more than the words and music can do. They create a live atmosphere that has to
be experienced by the people while the event continues.
1.
Having a clear Idea on Mood of
the Event: If the event is an Inspiring or Pleasant one, then you have to
go with some Light colors that depict the theme of the event. If the event is a
Fun based and energetic one, it’s advisable to use dark and funky shades of
Yellow that will increase the activity.
2.
Particular Color for each
activity: Each color has its own specialty in depicting the activity. If you
choose Green as your color, the people will have a pre-idea that the event is
about some growth and nation. In the same way, Yellow resembles communications
whereas for adding fun and joy, yellow is generally preferred.
3.
Intensity and Brightness
matters: After the selection of right color for the event decor, it is the
selection of chroma for each color. The feel of the same color changes by
changing its brightness and intensity. When we consider about Blue, we
generally find Light Blue as a calm and peaceful color whereas the darker shade
of the same blue will be as violent as it
can be.
4.
Levels of Contrast: When you
use a number of colors on the same side, it is the contrast levels
between them that matter the most. It
creates the slight difference between the variation
of colors. When you have less variation
of colors, you can go with fewer levels
of contrast but when the colors are increased, the contrast levels have to be
increased too.
5.
The combination of Colors: Basic knowledge of
color says that there are only three primary ones. So the proportion in which
these primary colors are mixed gives the new color. So by varying the chroma
values of individual colors, you can get the most appropriate color you require
for the particular event.
6.
Iconic Combinations of Color: Sometimes a single color cannot depict a scene
or theme of the event. So, it is when you have to use different colors together
to make them suited for your event decor. When you show Red color to people,
they may have varied opinions on it. If you add white to it, many of them say
it’s KFC or if you add golden color, they
go for McD.
7.
Using trademark Color of the host: Every event has to be organized by a firm and each firm has its logo
with some primary color in event decor. When you use that primary color to
cover the ceiling and background, the people gets the feel that they are in the
same event. It is so because the people are so familiar with the same
combination of those colors.
8.
Successful Colors: Even though you use the right chroma and
contrast for a color and use it most effectively, some colors aren’t meant to
be used in some events. It is the psychological reason that makes these colors
untouchables. You need to know more about the colors and have to use it effectively
at a particular place.
