Famous Recording Studios around the World
It’s
not the same lyrics and music, if not for the great studio. It is where the
final work is done before it is released into albums. It plays a major back-end role before an album is released into public. Now, let us have a journey through the most famous recording studios around the world.
Abbey Road Studios:
Located
in the Northwestern part of London, it looks quite cool from the surrounding buildings.
Established more than 80 years ago by the Gramophone
Company, it has been the home studio for the Beatles. You can always find it
crowded with people even in the middle of the week.
Beatles have recorded music here, with George Martin. Other than most of the
Beatles albums, this studio has been recording site for many other famous
albums like Lady Gaga’s Born
This Way (2011), OK Computer (1997), some of Radiohead’s The
Bends (1995), Duran
Duran’s eponymous debut album (1981) and Pink
Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon (1973).
The Rolling Stones Mobile Studio:
It
was in 1968- when the conventional studios are becoming very common everywhere,
Mick Jagger established this Mobile studio. One of his recording sessions
needed the equipment to be transported. Thus, he incorporated a control room in
a van and gave birth to this idea. This idea was even used by Bob Marley, The Who, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Iron
Maiden, and The Faces. Later those years, it was bought by Loho Studios and produced the noticeable albums
of Patti Smith and Ramanes. At first,
there are 8 tracks and now they are upgraded to
16.
Sterling Sound:
Founded
in 1960’s, it houses the albums from Bob Dylan to Beyonce. It has been the most
influential mastering studios at present day and stats say that almost 30% of
the American Top Charts include Sterling Masters. Their list boasts the names
of biggest stars of the industry like the late
George Marino to latest guys Ted Jensen, Greg Calbi, and Tom Coyne. ‘Rockstar’ Bob Ludwig was held as a president. It hosts best in
class analog and digital signal processing tools.
Sun Studio:
Birthplace of Rock ‘n’ Roll, the first Sun studio opened as Memphis
Recording Service. It was the brainchild of musical pioneer Sam Philips. Elvis Presley walked into this to record a demo for a
mothers’ day and dedicated it to his
mother. Nevertheless, there were no evident facts for that. Roy
Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash are some of the prominent persons who recorded here and
attained huge success for both this studio and their careers. In 1959, the
demand for the studio has increased and it has outgrown into huge studio
housing iconic equipment and hosted on American Musical and Cultural History
tours.
Sound City Studios:
Founded in late 70’s, it has been the birthplace to many
greatest recordings in rock ‘n’ roll
history. It has been evolving since then and kept amusing the music lovers.
With its vintage and analog equipment, it has captured some of the world’s best
music and produced some of the best-loved
tunes. When it comes to recording drums, it has produced an astonishing sound that has been its trademark.
It produced more than 50 albums from this very studio.
